The group scientist managed to cause the feeling of leaving bodies within group of health people. For deceiving brain the researchers used special binoculars which created impression of being surrounded by virtual reality.
During the experiment the group of volunteers could feel touch and they could observe their bodies from perspective. By means of these stimulus it was possible to deceive brains which had problems with processing signals coming from external environment. This feeling has been known for ages but usually it was achieved thanks to using special substances, for example drugs.
The experiment was conducted by Henrik Ehrsson from University College London and doctors from hospital in Geneve. The researchers used 3D cameras which showed the volunteers’ bodies from behind. During projecting the view, people were touched by scientists and also special devices stimulated human bodies.
The volunteers were divided into groups. The first group was shown a normal view from cameras, people from the second group saw view which was processed and was similar to computer simulation. Sensors on bodies stimulated bodies. After the session the group volunteers admitted that they could feel that their bodies belonged to someone else and they observed the bodies from third-person perspective.
Additionally, the group was shown hitting hummer. The sensors on their bodies proved that skin was reacting for the simulated view. When people were blinded and asked to come back to the places they were standing previously, the volunteers came back to the places simulated and projected thanks to binoculars.
The experiment shown that it was possible to deceive the brain and people could leave their bodies by means of using the latest technology.
