Virtual reality. Is it just a playground where we can find some entertainment during our free time or is it something more, an alternative dimension, another universe? How far can we go into it, how deep can we explore it and immerse in it? Are our bodies still a limitation or are there any ways to travel beyond these borders? The phenomenon of mutual penetration of reality and virtuality is taking place. Right here and right now.
As we are people of the 21st century, we can easily imagine power and possibilities of advanced technology. But do we expect that it can create an alternative world? A vision shown in Wachowski Brothers’ movie “Matrix” is really scary: Morpheus shows the real world as devastated desert ruled by machines which use humans as their batteries locked in huge power plant farms. The reality as we see it now seems to be just an illusion projected in human minds by huge plug inserted into the back of one’s head. In fact mankind leads a double parallel life. For some of us it is nothing new, especially for those who spend hours and days in front of their computer screens, but in this case the appearances of the two worlds are switched and they affect each other. If one gets hurt in the virtual world, he would also bleed in Zion (the real world) and vice versa. This correlation used to be just a product of Wachowski’s imagination.
